UNT Technical Communication Department Social Media Strategy

The social media strategy for the Department of Professional and Technical Communication was part of a larger document on web content strategy. I chose to showcase the social media strategy separate from the full document because it was my biggest contribution to the overall project. I wrote most the text (excluding the sections on Goals and Best Practices), created the graphs and images, and developed the content calendar.

The content was in part inspired by Steve Cooper’s article on hashtag use. Cooper noted that hashtags can be used to target specific users and start conversations. After writing a blog on this article, I noticed that even though the technical communication department was abundantly using hashtags, none of these were included to promote conversations from students. Therefore, I developed an idea that the page should incorporate more interactive posts to boost the amount of comments on each image.
